My Best Friend's Wedding

31 July 2013

Right, so the time is finally coming for this day that we've been waiting for and so naturally I think a post needs to be dedicated to my girl! We've been wedding planning up the wazoo, and so I haven't posted in a while, but....

Here's the story.

Krysta and I were not supposed to be roommates. I was supposed to live with my friend Sophie Johnson (who I knew) and that's the way it was. I got put in a room with this girl called Krysta Klumpp. Who seemed adorable, but I didn't know her! I emailed the manager at the dorms, and here is what she said to me... "Don't worry. I really feel that you and Krysta will get along".

Needless to say.. they nailed it

Most of these pictures are from freshman year, and we have both come a LONG LONG, LOONGG way since then.
From the adventures of PotMan to the Christmas reunion, she has made me a total part of her family and she will of course be a part of mine.
We have learned a lot from each other, and everyone still can't understand how two people so alike could only have met three years ago! Where was she for the first eighteen years of my life.
She is beautiful, smart, funny, compassionate and one of the best people you will ever come across.
Let's just leave it there before my laptop dies because I'm sobbing all over it.

Krysta's great. Paul's lucky, and with all the wedding planning we've been doing I just wanted to make this all clear before the big day.

White Laundry. Forever.
Now onto the wedding of the century

ps. i'm being serious. those pictures are hane. freshman year. we didn't know what was going on. we thought we did. but we didn't. #freshman25

reasons for there to be pure bliss in my life

23 July 2013

As this is The Brit Journals, OBVIOUSLY the news of the new little Prince of Cambridge is reason for joy

Seriously. Would seriously consider giving up med school to nanny for this little one. Look at how precious they are in their powder blue ensemble. Ahh good tips in colour coordination for when I have my own littles and there are 50,000 people waiting patiently outside the hospital (ha!)

In terms of things that deal with me directly....

I
AM
FREE
FOR
SEVEN
WEEKS.

seven weeks!!!

Oh the things I'll do..
Mostly study for the UKCAT, but also be at home soaking up all the London-ness there is.

Look. Look at it in all its glory.

Our Last Sunday

21 July 2013

Look. I know that Krysta and I are obviously not actually being separated.
I know that we'll be best friends forever. Really there's no denying it.
But today was our last sunday together in the same singles ward as roommates.
We're just not talking about it.

Paris

16 July 2013

Look at this font. Isn't it adorable?
It's called Parisienne.
Thus proving my point that everything about Paris is perfect. Even their fonts.
I've been on a weird Paris Pinterest kick and have an overwhelming desire to go back!

I'd been once before when I was about thirteen, but it was on a school trip and I didn't get to explore it nearly as much as it deserves.
Being this far away from London has made me realize how many opportunities I took for granted and you'd better believe that I'll be making the short trip over the channel when I go home.

Just look at it!

Images c/o Pinterest see original pins here

And besides here is a picture of what I looked like the first time I visited the fashion capital of the world

SURELY, the universe has to give me a chance to redeem myself.

The Heart of Finals

15 July 2013

So, as finals week is upon me, I do my usual thing where I either turn into a mindless zombie and do nothing but study, or I adopt this weird YOLO philosophy, and I am highly unproductive.
Today? I'm definitely YOLOing it, however I'm taking a short break from my unproductivity to share something with you.

Yes, you're all sick of me talking about the heart. I get it. But really, this video encapsulates everything that I am totally passionate about.
A cardiothoracic surgeon talks about how her experiences with being so close the heart, have helped her understand the presence of a soul. I did my final Neuroscience presentation on this very topic last semester- the connection between the body and the soul, and how they interact with one another.

Long story short, please spare 7 minutes and 8 seconds to watch this. Like I have said before, it will not only explain the reason that I am so unsociable lately, but will also give you a brief insight into one of my life goals.

Seriously though.
Throw having a family in there, and this woman is who I want to be!

HUGE thank you to Camilla Hancock at Inspire Me Video for sharing this with me! You know me.

Happy Malala Day

12 July 2013

So of all of my blog posts recently, this is by far the most important.
Let's talk about this girl

This is Malala Yousafzai.

Late last year, she was on her way to school, when her bus got attacked by the Taliban. She was shot because she was trying to obtain an education, and by the rules of the Taliban, that is not appropriate.
She was taken to hospital in England in October and I've been following her progress ever since. You'd think that when the world's most oppressive, dangerous group had you on their hit-list, you'd lie low. But for Malala this isn't about her life, its about the enrichment of the lives of women everywhere. She has been speaking with world leaders trying to inspire change in her nation and I am so proud to live on the earth at the same time as her.
What an incredible force for good. I firmly believe that God sends people on this earth to counteract the evil that exists, and she is absolutely one of them.

Today she turns 16. I have honestly never been so inspired by one person in such a short amount of time.

Happy Birthday Malala!!!

And Thank You.

Grand Britannia

11 July 2013

It was that time of the semester again where we Brits had to come together and remember why we were in charge for so long. (Ha)

I'll be honest, it wasn't as bumping as it has been before, but the banter was there. We even had a couple of Scots this time! As always we watched the Royal Wedding as per usual traditions, and had some Little Caesars (also a new found tradition).

But it was wonderful.
It was British.

Her Maj even made an appearance

"If it's banana and toffee... it's banofee"- Luke Turvey making me feel better about my lack of authentic British baking skills.

This. Kid. Rocking the Arsenal top like a true champ.

The Jenkins!!!!

Tay? Tay? Tay.

PS. we're on baby watch. Future monarch should be coming any day soon!!

....And We Maaaaaaaaaade IIIIIIIIIttttt

07 July 2013

So the reference is from SNL, when Troy goes back to High School.
You don't get it.
But Krysta does.
And it was her Bridal shower this weekend!
SERIOUSLY.
I hope Paul's excited to live with her. And me, because we can't be apart. We're literally crying but it's ok.
Anyway we had a great time on Saturday morning, telling cute love stories and just watching this cute girl be in love.

There's no way I could have put it together without this cute lady.

LOOK AT HER!!!!!! (via To & Fro)

I cried.
Look, I can't.
I can't.
We're not talking about.

Independence Day

04 July 2013

This is the Brit Journals.
I am British.
And I LOVE America. Really I do, however my roommates do not seem to think that I love it enough. They thought that my lack of patriotism merited the fb hack of all hacks on America day. It went a little like this:

Seriously look at this photoshopping. As magnificent as the Great Bald Eagle itself

But despite the awful invasion of the remnants of my British pride... (and after this day there really isn't much left), I had a wonderful 4th of July. I totally got into my last one here in the States. Long live Murica.

We rode to the parade in the back of a pick-up truck with flags, and with American colored jeans.

It really was a good day.
